"Day's End"

9 x 12 inches

Oil

$1600

As the sun descends below the horizon a mysterious, eerie silence, envelops the landscape. It’s the end of the day, time to rest, be satisfied, and thankful for all life’s blessings

"Blue Awnings"

9 x 12 inches

Oil

$1600

This simple but beautiful little farmhouse is within walking distance of my home. It’s been there a long time and as you can see it has been added onto over the years. I have always been attracted to it’s simplicity. Surrounded by farmland, it represents what I love about rural America.

"An Autumn Greeting"

8.68 x 9.75 inches

Oil

$1400

The dark greens of summer make way for the delightful and wonderful reds, yellows, ochres, and rusts of autumn. The air is different, the light is different, even the smells are different. It's a welcome change that makes one's heart dance.

"Transition Series: Overgrown (Autumn) "

10.5 x 14 inches

Oil

$2300

Old barns such as this, rapidly disappearing from our country, are an enduring testament to the small farms and hard working farmers so critical to the building of America. These barns stand as monuments upon the American landscape. For those interested in my working methods, you'll notice that the right and left edges have no color. Those areas of the painting show the monochromatic underpainting I typically do before color is applied.

"Life's Way" (Plein Air)

9 x 12 inches

Oil

$1600

It is the way of all things in this world, they are birthed, yet immediately begin to age and eventually die. The time in between can be one of great beauty and usefulness that will inevitably transition into a different kind of beauty and usefulness. As an artist, it's this transition period that I find most attractive, and I'm thankful to have discovered this beauty before it disappears entirely..

Testimonials from John's Collectors

  • "I have been collecting John Pototschnik paintings for over 40 years. His rich depictions of everyday life cause me stop, focus on, and appreciate the simple things I usually take for granted. I especially love his snow scenes and sunsets." - Drew and Liz, Amesbury, MA

  • "I first heard of John Pototschnik and his art through some of his peers. Knowing me as a person and the type of art I was interested in, they encouraged me to check out John and his art. To me that was one of the highest recommendations I could have received. For his peers, who are all skilled and awarded artists, to praise his skill and admire his character is high praise indeed. I collect John Pototschnik art because his life and work exemplify the most important things in my life, faith in God our creator, love of family, loyalty to our American heritage, honesty and integrity in every situation. Many of his paintings are very idyllic and reminiscent of our country’s culture and way of life in a more peaceful, unhurried, and pleasant time. A time when all the values we have in common meant something and were held dear in people’s hearts. John Pototschnik’s art is like a “pleasing aroma” to my senses. Another reason for collecting John Pototschnik art, is to pass on as an inheritance to my heirs. They value much of what I value in life, and not only will it allow them to cherish and treasure the intrinsic value of the art, but it will appreciate as an asset." - Carolyn, Bentonville, AR

  • "John Pototschnik's choice of colors really draws me into the subject of his paintings. Often his subjects, most prominently rural landscapes often with farm houses, barns or outbuildings, remind me of my Great-Grandmother's stories of life on local farms in the North Texas area from the late 19th to the early 20th century. As a child I hiked many of these farms that belonged to friends and family past and present. Owning John's paintings allow me to take a step back in time to revisit these nonexistent places. Simply said, John's paintings make me happy." - Brian, Wylie, TX
